Sunshine Coast Airport takes another step towards a smoother travel experience.

By in Uncategorized

Checking in at Sunshine Coast Airport is set to become easier, with a new check-in hall now open as part of the airport’s major terminal transformation.

The new facility features 18 self-service kiosks, 10 automated bag-drop units and a dedicated oversized baggage area. The technology can be used by passengers flying with any airline, giving travellers more flexibility while still allowing airline staff to provide assistance when needed.

It follows the opening of an expanded arrivals and baggage claim precinct earlier this month, featuring a carousel almost twice the length of the original.

And there’s more to come! The wider redevelopment will nearly double the terminal’s footprint, triple the size of the domestic departure lounge and increase departure gates from five to seven.

With around 1.8 million passengers travelling through the airport in 2025–26, and numbers expected to reach 2.4 million by 2030, the upgrades are designed to support the Sunshine Coast’s growing travel needs.

The full terminal expansion is expected to be completed in 2027.

Another sign of the Sunshine Coast’s continued growth and investment in the region.
