Mark Officer from Jaz Realty presents… Local Spotlight: Georgia Struthers of “Good Folk” Pilates – Building Strength, Community and Connection in Yandina

As a local real estate agent representing Jaz Realty, I’m always inspired by the people behind Yandina’s growing small business scene. It’s this vibrant, supportive community that makes Yandina not just a beautiful place to live, but a truly fulfilling place to work. Recently, I had the pleasure of sitting down with Georgia Struthers, the passionate co-founder of Good Folk Pilates, to hear more about her journey, her vision, and what fuels her deep connection to our town.

Inspired by Community, Driven by Purpose

When I asked Georgia what led her to open her own studio, her answer was simple but powerful. “I always wanted my own space where I could build a community. What I experienced in another studio, I wanted to recreate for others in my own way.” Her dream wasn’t just about movement—it was about belonging.

Why Yandina?

Georgia says there’s something uniquely special about running a business in Yandina. “It’s beautiful, quaint, and quiet, but it’s also growing,” she explained. “There’s a genuine sense of connection here that you don’t find everywhere.” That deep connection is evident not just in her studio, but in the way she lives—constantly bumping into familiar faces on the street, striking up spontaneous conversations, and fostering new relationships.

A Vision for Wellness and Inclusion

Looking ahead, Georgia sees her business evolving into more than just a Pilates studio. Her vision includes a hub of wellness—welcoming Allied Health professionals and expanding the ways her studio can serve the community. She’s passionate about creating a supportive space where people feel stronger, more confident, and more connected—both physically and socially.

Everyday Joys and Local Love

Georgia’s love for Yandina extends beyond her studio walls. She cherishes her daily commute from Coolum, describing the drive as “geographically beautiful,” and holds fond memories of Saturday markets and cooking classes at the iconic Spirit House. These moments ground her in the place she calls home and fuel her passion for helping others feel at home here too.

Life, Movement, and Meaning

When it comes to what drives her personally and professionally, Georgia is all about community and the power of movement. “Social connection through exercise is so powerful,” she says. And when it’s time to unwind? Nothing beats a trip to the beach.

Her biggest takeaway from running Good Folk Pilates? “Trust your instincts. Put your clients first and stay true to who you are.”

A Final Word from Georgia

“We focus on progress over perfection. Highly skilled teachers run every class to create a high-end Pilates experience—without judgment, just positive vibes. Our mission is to help everyone feel stronger, more confident, and to grow in ways they never thought possible. Good moves for life—that’s what we’re about here at Good Folk Pilates.”
