‘Coveted area’: knockdown beachside property sells for millions
A modest beach shack in one of the region’s most tightly held coastal pockets has sparked a bidding war, selling for a hefty sum.
The one-bedroom, two-bathroom 1960s home at 8 Bell Street, Dicky Beach, sold under the hammer for $2.02 million after attracting 13 registered bidders, with six actively competing for the property.
Marketed as a knockdown-rebuild opportunity, the home was sold on behalf of the beneficiaries of a family estate.
While the original house had reached the end of its lifespan, the scarcity of the land ignited fierce competition among buyers eager to build in the beachside pocket.
The property was nestled in a coveted pocket of about 75 houses, positioned between the Currimundi Special School to the north and the Dicky Beach Surf Club to the south, in a low-density area next to a patrolled beach.
The property served as a family beach house for decades, but its next chapter is expected to look different.
