Worth the Wait: Imperial Hotel Reveals Next Stage of Renovation with More to Come
The iconic Imperial Hotel at Eumundi has just unveiled the next stage of its $5 million transformation—and it’s one locals have been eagerly anticipating.
The historic hotel’s beer garden has doubled in size, while the outdoor bar footprint has almost tripled, now offering guests a direct view into a working brewery. The 8-metre outdoor bar sits alongside Eumundi Brewery, creating the perfect spot to sip a cold one and soak up the hinterland atmosphere.
The Comiskey Group, the Brisbane-based hospitality developer, purchased the 113-year-old hotel in 2023, adding it to a growing portfolio of Queensland venues, including The Doonan on the Sunshine Coast. Stage one of the renovation, completed in September 2024, introduced a new front bar, dining area, gaming room, TAB, and band room, while stage two adds even more reasons to visit.
What’s new:
• Expanded beer garden and outdoor bar
• Glass window into the working brewery
• Outdoor stage for live music
• LED screen for entertainment
• Pool table laneway
• New kitchen and dining area
Director Rob Comiskey says the latest stage marks a major milestone:
“We know locals have been patiently waiting for the beer garden to return and we’re confident it’s been worth the wait. It’s not only bigger, it’s got a timeless look that nods to the hotel’s rich history, and it’s built for atmosphere.”
And the excitement isn’t over yet. The final stage, opening in 2026, will feature what Comiskey Group calls “the Coast’s largest hotel kids’ playground”, promising something for the whole family.
With live music, a revamped dining experience, and a front-row view of the brewery in action, the Imperial Hotel is ready to welcome guests back in style.
