Mark Officer from Jaz Realty shines the Local Spotlight on Lawn Espresso – More Than Just Great Coffee

As a local real estate agent representing Jaz Realty in the Yandina community, I have a real passion for getting to know our locals and supporting the incredible businesses that make our town so unique.

This morning, I had the absolute pleasure of sitting down with Kaye, the powerhouse owner behind Lawn Espresso, a much-loved staple in the heart of Yandina.

What inspired Kaye to start Lawn Espresso?

After years in the not-for-profit sector and corporate world, Kaye craved something more personal and connected. “I wanted a direct relationship with my customers, something local, something real,” she shared.

What’s her favourite part of running a business in Yandina?

Without hesitation, Kaye said, “The relationships.” Many of her customers have become close friends, and Lawn has grown into a trusted hub where locals connect, share advice, and look out for one another. “People come here to feel seen, known, and welcomed.”

Looking ahead…

Kaye sees Lawn continuing as a community connector—especially as Yandina grows. Her hope? That expansion doesn’t come at the cost of the town’s soul. She champions a future where small businesses thrive, kids can walk to judo, and mums can shop local—all while preserving our village atmosphere.

How does Kaye stay connected beyond the café?

Despite her long hours, she still finds time to serve as the Secretary of the Yandina Chamber of Commerce, and as a Justice of the Peace. Whether it’s helping with certified documents or just saying hello on the street, she’s deeply woven into the fabric of this town.

Why Yandina?

Kaye lights up talking about our town: the quality local shops, the familiar faces, the rolling hills, Mt Ninderry, and the ever-present green backdrop. “It’s soothing for the soul,” she says.

Unwinding after a big day?

It’s all about quizzes and soaking in the beauty of her surroundings. A moment of stillness after a day full of connection.

Biggest lesson learned?

“You’ve got to care,” Kaye said, simply but powerfully. “It’s not just about making great coffee (though Lawn’s won gold medals at the National Bean Awards!)—it’s about showing people you notice, you listen, and you care.”

After 8 years, Lawn Espresso continues to be one of those rare places where the vibe is warm, the service is exceptional, and the coffee speaks for itself. From hugs to heartfelt chats, Kaye and her team are a big part of what makes Yandina feel like home.

Next time you’re in town, stop in and say hello. You might just leave with more than a great coffee—you’ll leave feeling like part of the family.
