Boutique Cabins Proposed for Kulangoor – A Unique Blend of Rural Living and Tourism
A new proposal could soon bring boutique accommodation to the peaceful, green hills of Kulangoor. A development application has been submitted to Sunshine Coast Council for eight short-term holiday cabins on a beautiful 4.1-hectare property at 81 Creightons Road.
🛖 What’s Planned?
Local applicants Joshua Kronk and Melanie Anquetil—working with Willowtree Planning—are behind the proposal. The vision is for a nature-inspired, low-impact retreat with eight two-bedroom cabins, a communal undercover area, walking trails, and eco-friendly infrastructure.
The cabins will be carefully positioned around existing trees and a natural watercourse, preserving the character of the land. Built on low-set stumps and using already-cleared areas, the design is focused on minimal disruption to the environment. 🌱
🌳 Privacy & Sustainability
The cabins will be nestled within a screen of mature trees, providing privacy for both visitors and neighbours. Each cabin will include its own parking and be fully self-sufficient, using rainwater tanks and onsite waste systems—no town water or sewerage connection required.
📍 Although the land is zoned rural, the proposal aligns with council planning guidelines. It’s a smart, sustainable way to make rural land work for lifestyle and tourism, without impacting agriculture or neighbouring properties.
💬 Why This Matters
As someone working in real estate across the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, I see this as a great example of how eco-tourism and rural living can go hand-in-hand. It highlights the growing appeal of our region—not just for those wanting to live here, but also for visitors seeking a nature-filled getaway.
🏡 Kulangoor is becoming more popular with buyers and investors who want space, serenity, and possibility. Thoughtful projects like this put our local area on the map and show what’s possible with the right vision and respect for the land.
📌 The application is code assessable, meaning it doesn’t require public notification—so it could progress quickly, and council approval is pending.
